More than thirty teams in college football will be wearing new helmets or uniforms for the 2024 season, some of which will be one-off alternates or updated templates. Deion Sanders famously said, “Look good, feel good, play good.” This week’s preseason AP Top 25 rankings include a few playoff-bound teams from the SEC and Group of Five, among other programs.
Teams that adopted a more understated, minimalistic strategy, letting Nike, Adidas, or Under Armour do their thing to the best of their abilities without drastically altering the already outstanding appearance of their uniforms, receive extra points.
The list of schools not featured in this ranking of new helmets and uniforms with updated designs for the upcoming season includes Appalachian State, Arizona, Arkansas State, BYU, Bowling Green, Cal, Indiana, Illinois, Louisiana, Miami (Ohio), Middle Tennessee, Minnesota, North Texas, Oklahoma, Oregon State, Purdue, Rice, TCU, Tulsa, UAB, ULM, UMass, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, West Virginia, WKU, and Wyoming.
These are ten new helmets or uniforms that are worth getting excited about.
9. Broncos of Boise State
This season, Boise State made minor adjustments to their Nike jerseys, slightly altering the pattern to give them a new appearance. The Broncos have a number of contrasting combinations to select from, including blue, orange, white, and black. From a visual standpoint, the preseason matchup against Oregon should be fantastic.

This season’s Shamrock Series alternative for Notre Dame is really special. In addition to the eye-catching gold Gothic-style numbers, the blue-gray color scheme of the uniform is said to have been influenced by the well-known lead from a 1924 Fighting Irish game at the Polo Grounds, which is 100 years ago, according to renowned sportswriter Grantland Rice.

When Mario Cristobal gets ready for his third season with his greatest team to date, the Miami Hurricanes are paying homage to the power era of “The U” with their new Adidas 2024 uniforms. This summer, Miami released a video on the practice fields in Coral Gables showcasing their updated apparel. The film included multiple outfits, such as orange, white, and green jerseys paired with matching slacks. The yearly “Miami Nights” alternate look for this season is all-black with hints of orange.
5. Volunteers from Tennessee
This season, Tennessee modified its well-liked “Smokey Grey” alternate uniforms as a “Volunteer State” version. This is the second iteration of the design since the original release in 2022. The two most noticeable alterations to the uniform are a large “Tennessee” across the front above the jersey numbers and an orange rendition of the flag’s insignia on the side of the shoulders. According to the Vols, the uniform is “an ode to the state and Tennessee’s status as the flagship university.”
4. Red Raiders from Texas Tech
Adidas’ redesigned Texas Tech style for this season is a throwback. While “TEXAS TECH” has been imprinted across the white road and home black choices, “RED RAIDERS” will be across red alternate jerseys. The tackle-twill lettering and digits give these a distinctly vintage look. We adore them.
3. The Rebels, Ole Miss
Ole Miss’ newest addition to their game day attire, according to Inside The Rebels, will include a white helmet (2021 Sugar Bowl), white jerseys, and white pants. Powder blue is another helmet that has been spotted wearing the new combo. The powder blue stripes and numerals are what make the uniform stylish. The Nike ‘Vapor F.U.S.E.’ template is featured on Ole Miss’s most recent white kits.

Liberty will look the part as one of the Group of Five’s postseason leaders this fall after being undefeated throughout the regular season under Jamey Chadwell last year. In addition to the program’s use of “FLAMES” in cursive on its many jersey and helmet options, Liberty also adopted a minimalist look for its redesigned jerseys and pants. Here, simplicity is preferable.
