The signing of Elias Lindholm and Nikita Zadorov during the Bruins’ successful free agency period left them with a significant question mark over the status of goalie Jeremy Swayman.
Both Boston and Swayman have stated repeatedly that they are optimistic a long-term agreement will be reached, and neither team chose to proceed to arbitration this summer. With training camp rapidly approaching, nothing has been announced as of about midway through August.
CEO of the Boston Bruins Charlie Jacobs gave a brief update on the team’s and the goalie’s status.
“I try not to weigh in on negotiations over player contracts. During his visit on WEEI’s “Gresh & Fauria” during the WEEI/NESN Jimmy Fund Radio-Telethon, Jacobs stated, “We are still negotiating with Sway.” “Hopefully, he’ll be prepared to play in training camp. We still need to resolve a few issues. We’ll succeed, I’m confident.
Jacobs went on to say that signing Swayman to a long-term contract was in fact the Bruins’ “unfinished business” from the offseason.
In order to acquire Joonas Korpisalo, the Bruins traded Linus Ullmark to the Ottawa Senators in June. The goalie was among the poorest in the NHL statistically and had a poor season in Ottawa. In Providence, Boston also boasts Brandon Bussi, who is vying for an NHL debut.
Swayman is coming off a fantastic 2023–24 campaign in which he participated in every postseason game for Boston through the first two rounds. His record at the end of the regular season was 25-10-8, with a goals-against average of 2.53 and a save percentage of.916.
Although the offseason is quiet right now, the Bruins have always made it a top goal to retain Swayman in the long run. Right now, all that’s left to do is wait and see when it will occur.
Jayson Tatum Adds Gold Medal to Hall of Fame-Reckoning Résumé.
Even though he is only 26 years old, Jayson Tatum is one of the most decorated basketball players in history.
Despite not playing a lot of minutes for Team USA, the Boston Celtics star managed to win his second gold medal at the Olympics in Paris when the Americans defeated France. As one of only three players to win an NBA championship, an Olympic gold medal, and a First-Team All-NBA selection in the same season, Tatum joined LeBron James and Michael Jordan in this regard.
When questioned about the 2028 Summer Games in Los Angeles, Tatum didn’t rule out making another trip to the Olympics. If he and Jaylen Brown continue to be the team’s major players, Boston should be a title contender for the ensuing ten years.
Tatum’s seven-year career was covered by NESN’s Travis Thomas and Ountae Campbell in their most recent “Hold My Banner” episode. In addition to winning an NBA championship and an Olympic gold medal twice, the standout forward is a five-time All-Star and a four-time All-NBA player (three First-Team selections). Prior to reaching 27, he also holds the record for most playoff points in NBA history. Thomas and Campbell concurred that Tatum has an outstanding resume and is maybe headed for the Basketball Hall of Fame.
