Lamar Jackson, the quarterback for the Baltimore Ravens, is one of the NFL’s most engaging and exciting athletes. It turns out, though, that when he speaks of the greatest dual threat quarterback in league history, he has someone else in mind.

Because of Jackson’s distinct skill set, the quarterback position has been redefined, and defenses playing the Ravens are forced to reevaluate their entire game plan. He is a nightmare to game-plan against because of his explosive speed, pinpoint precision, and amazing field vision, which allow him to harm opponents both through the air and on the ground.

Jackson’s rushing has sometimes been compared to that of former dual-threat icons like Michael Vick and Randall Cunningham, but he stands apart thanks to his consistent excellence and ongoing improvement as a thrower. In addition to shattering quarterback single-season rushing records, he has become an absolute dual-threat maestro by improving his decision-making and touchdown-to-interception ratio year after year.

With the Ravens persisting in using Jackson’s remarkable abilities, the two-time MVP seems ready to pen an even more remarkable chapter in his career. With his explosive playmaking abilities, unmatched physicality, and developing pocket passing skills, the Ravens star is quickly emerging as the NFL’s most proficient dual-threat quarterback to date.

Baltimore Ravens’ Lamar Jackson Honors Washington Redskins Icon Doug Williams as Best Dual-Threat QB in NFL History

Even though Jackson is an excellent quarterback, he mentioned another player while discussing the position. The Ravens star selected Williams in a tweet on his official X account and in a piece Paolo Mariano wrote for Athlon Sports.

An interesting question was posted on X by a football podcast: Cam Newton isn’t available. Which quarterback in NFL history is the best dual-threat?

Jackson responded with a GIF of legendary Washington Redskins player Doug Williams, Mariano wrote.

In 1978, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers selected Williams as their first-round pick as an African-American quarterback. Later, as a member of the Washington Redskins, he won Super Bowl XXII, making history as the first Black quarterback to start and win a Super Bowl. After tossing a then-record four touchdowns in the second quarter, Williams was awarded the MVP of the Super Bowl.

Jackson will have one more chance to establish himself as one of the best quarterbacks in NFL history during the forthcoming season. Williams will always be regarded as one of the greatest players to ever play the game, even if that turns out to be the case.
