According to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype, former Duke Blue Devils star big man Kyle Filipowski has signed a contract with the Utah Jazz.
League sources told @hoopshype that the Utah Jazz have signed rookie Kyle Filipowski to a four-year, $12 million contract. The agreement features a team option in year four, is non-guaranteed in year three, and is completely guaranteed for the first two years. The 32nd pick of the 2024 NBA Draft was the former Duke standout.
Given that he was one of the guests in the Green Room, many predicted that Filipowski would be selected in the first round of the 2024 NBA Draft. Eventually, he heard his name called as he was chosen by the Jazz as the 32nd overall pick in the second round.
From what they have seen so far of Filipowski, the Jazz appear to be impressed. During five games, he averaged 16.4 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 2.4 assists, demonstrating his impressive performance in the NBA Summer League.
The Jazz have 29th most cap room in the NBA even after adding Filipowski, but they are ahead by $813,000. Right now, the only team with positive cap room is the Detroit Pistons.
Here’s more information about Filipowski’s contract via ESPN’s Bobby Marks:
“The Jazz signed second-round pick Kyle Filipowski with the $3 million in cap space that was left. The $12 million, four-year deal is the highest for a player taken in the second round in the previous two years. The player chosen 22nd in the first round would receive a wage similar to that in the first year.
