Tomorrow is the first preseason game for the Washington Commanders, who are currently one day away from participating in their first live game. They take on the New York Jets so that the coaching staff may gain a better understanding of the team’s current state and the new-look Commanders can get a good look at how the roster fits together.

The Washington team has undergone more than just a physical makeover; for the first time, new coaching staff will be in charge. For the first time, head coach Dan Quinn, offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury, and defensive coordinator Joe Whitt Jr. will collaborate to create a culture and game plan on Saturday.

Quinn clarified on Thursday that the coaches’ placement throughout a game is quite straightforward.

“One goes up, one goes down.” You must discover the truth,” Quinn chuckled. “No, I’m not serious [laughing]. Kliff Kingsbury, the offensive coordinator, will be on the field, and Joe Whitt Jr., the defensive coordinator, will be in the press box.

Once more, there is a lot to learn from the three coaches as this will be their first time working through a game together. The new roster gives the coaching staff a chance to start from scratch and work things out as the season progresses.

As the Commanders play their inaugural game, it will be interesting to observe how rookies and younger players perform. One person to keep an eye on will be Jayden Daniels in particular. The future franchise quarterback will be able to start establishing himself and eventually show why he should be the starting quarterback on the official depth chart with his first game repetitions prior to his rookie season.

Kingsbury will be watching Daniels play on the field, and the two can collaborate closely to make sure the No. 2 overall pick is prepared for genuine game action at the start of the regular season.

Cincinnati Bengals sign standout defensive end from HBU.

Joshua Pryor, a former standout defensive end at HBCU, was signed by the Cincinnati Bengals on August 7. After decimating CIAA backfields for Bowie State, the 6’4″, 280-pound defensive lineman, who is in his second year of play, played for the Washington Commanders in his rookie season. With this agreement, the former HBCU standout can further establish his reputation while providing the Bengals with some much-needed defensive line depth.

Pryor joins a Bengals defensive line unit that saw many lineup adjustments on Wednesday. The Bengals placed defensive end Cam Sample on injured reserve and added defensive end Andre Carter to their roster after signing Pryor.

During his debut season with the Washington Commanders, Pryor participated in seven games. Pryor played on the Commanders special teams unit and was awarded a tackle as well as a kicked block. On May 7, Washington waived him.

Even though his career got off to a rough start, Pryor is accustomed to facing obstacles on the way to achievement.

Pryor was named to the first team of the CIAA three times (in 2018, 2019, and 2022), the CIAA Defensive Player of the Year in 2022, the BoxToRow All-American team twice (in 2018 and 2019), and the second team AP All-American while attending Bowie State. Pryor set records for Bowie State in tackles-for-loss (77) and career sacks (32) at the conclusion of his collegiate career. Incredibly, he finished second in career tackle totals (245) and recorded four forced fumbles.

Pryor’s individual efforts resulted in a great deal of team achievement as well. The conference titles were won by the Bowie State Bulldogs in 2018 (10-3), 2019 (11-1), and 2021 (12-2).

The defensive standout’s influence brought him widespread attention. After his last collegiate season, Pryor was invited to the HBCU Legacy Bowl and recorded two sacks in the match. During the week, he demonstrated an exceptional combination of size and quickness, putting him squarely on the radar of NFL scouts.

Pryor is getting closer to his second season in the NFL and wants to make a name for himself. On August 31, the Cincinnati Bengals take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in their first preseason game. Paycor Stadium will host the game at 7 p.m. eastern standard time. NFL+ users will be able to watch the preseason match.
