“Speculative” Information Regarding Anthony Edwards’ Request for a Trade to the Heat is Shared by an NBA Insider

Le Batard remarked, “I have some information on something that, if it happens, will be explosive.” And I’m simply going to prime you for something that is now speculative but should be monitored. The Timberwolves are owned by Glen Taylor, and I don’t think anyone thinks highly of him. And he gave Alex Rodriguez the team. We’re going to find out who gets that team in an upcoming arbitration. Which player will it be, A-Rod or Glen Taylor?

And this is what you should be aware of, please. Following Glen Taylor’s retention of the team, Tim Connelly, the team president, will also leave. He signed a long-term contract with the A-Rod team, and I assume the contract is contingent on A-Rod owning the team, thus he will be leaving.

“Everyone assumed A-Rod would be that team’s owner. Additionally, Anthony Edwards might want to depart with Tim Connelly and ask to be traded to Miami if he departs.

In July 2023, Edwards signed a $244 million, five-year contract deal with the Minnesota Timberwolves. One of the NBA’s top players, Edwards, will earn $42.2 million in salary the following year.

A two-time All-Star, Edwards shot 46.1% from the field, 35.7% from outside the arc, and 83.6% from the free-throw line in 2023–24 while averaging 25.9 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 5.1 assists.

The first overall selection in the 2020 NBA Draft was Edwards. He has averaged 22.9 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 4.1 assists over his career.

In five games, the Heat were defeated by the Boston Celtics in the 2024 playoffs’ opening round, and the Timberwolves fell to the Dallas Mavericks in five games during the Western Conference Finals.

Dan Le Batard gave some fascinating insights into the Minnesota Timberwolves’ future and how they can benefit the Miami Heat.

Le Batard claims that if Alex Rodriguez does not buy the Timberwolves from Glen Taylor, Anthony Edwards might want to be traded to the Miami Heat, which would force Tim Connelly, the team’s president of basketball operations, to resign.

Le Batard remarked, “I have some information on something that, if it happens, will be explosive.” And I’m simply going to prime you for something that is worth seeing but is now speculative. The Timberwolves are owned by Glen Taylor, and I don’t think anyone thinks highly of him. And he gave Alex Rodriguez the team. We’re going to find out who gets that team in an upcoming arbitration. “And you should be aware of this, please? Following Glen Taylor’s acquisition of the team, Tim Connelly, the team president, will leave. He signed a long-term contract with the A-Rod team, and I assume that contract is reliant on A-Rod owning the team, so that’s why he’s leaving. Everyone assumed that A-Rod would be the team’s owner. Additionally, Anthony Edwards might want to depart with Tim Connelly and ask to be traded to Miami if he departs.

Edwards would undoubtedly need a number of things to happen before he wants to leave Minnesota, and Connelly’s departure from the team does not ensure that the star guard would follow suit.

Nevertheless, Edwards has been connected to Miami before. Bill Simmons made light of Edwards’ romance with Heat center Bam Adebayo earlier this week. Ironically, since Adebayo extended his deal for a further three years this offseason, both players may become unrestricted free agents at the same time.

Edwards was once the number one overall pick, and Minnesota won’t want to trade him, especially after he helped the team reach the Western Conference Finals in 2023–2024. But, the Timberwolves might feel compelled to deal the All-Star guard if he requests the move rather than take a chance on having a star player on their team who isn’t happy.

Given that Jimmy Butler is getting older and approaching the end of his contract (though he still has a player option for the 2025–26 season), Edwards would be the ideal player to play alongside Adebayo in the future.

During the 2023–24 campaign, Edwards shot 35.7 percent from three-point range and 46.1 percent from the field to average 25.9 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 5.1 assists per game. He was selected for Team USA in the summer Olympics because of his outstanding play in the early going of his NBA career.
