Jordan Addison, a wide receiver for the Minnesota Vikings, was detained in Los Angeles last month on suspicion of operating a vehicle while intoxicated. The authorities are currently filing charges against him.
On July 31, Addison was charged with two misdemeanors: driving while intoxicated and exceeding the legal limit of blood alcohol content in California. Ben Goessling of the Star Tribune reports that Addison may spend up to six months in jail, pay $2,000 in penalties, and have her driver’s license suspended for the same amount of time.
The NFL has the option to suspend Addison as well. A player’s first infraction involving alcohol carries a three-game suspension under the league’s substance abuse policy.
On July 12, Addison was taken into custody after it was said that he was obstructing traffic on I-105 in West Los Angeles while driving a white Rolls Royce. When the police got close to the car, Addison was allegedly dozing off behind the wheel. Further information is available here.
Addison promised to “own up to whatever disciplinary actions that comes my way” following the arrest at the beginning of training camp last month.
Addison had previously run-ins with the law over a driving-related incident prior to the arrest. Last year, Addison gave an explanation for the Vikings wideout’s careless driving charge, citing a medical emergency involving his dog.
Addison, a first-round selection from USC last year, had a significant effect during his first campaign with the Vikings. With 70 catches for 911 yards and 10 touchdowns, he finished.
Former Las Vegas Raiders Weapon Joins Minnesota Vikings (Report)
In 2024, the Minnesota Vikings unexpectedly had to start a new era in the off-season. Many assumed Kirk Cousins would play his entire career with the Vikings. There were ripple effects across the league after his decision to sign with the Atlanta Falcons.
With rookie quarterback JJ McCarthy and seasoned quarterback Sam Darnold, the Vikings are currently winning.
One of the best wide receiving tandems in the NFL is Jordan Addison and Justin Jefferson, but there may be another weapon on the way.
Former wide receiver for the Las Vegas Raiders works out with the Minnesota Vikings
The Minnesota Vikings are still searching for talent to add, and they won’t be stopping anytime soon, according to Tyler Forness of A to Z Sports.
The Vikings sent in three wide receivers for workouts: Dax Milne, Justin Hall, and Deon Cain, according to Aaron Wilson of KPRC2.
Both Cain and Hall are UFL veterans, having played for the Houston Roughnecks and the Birmingham Stallions, respectively. The Washington Commanders selected Milne in the seventh round of the 2021 draft; the organization just let him go last week.
Cain was a standout player at Clemson University prior to being taken in the sixth round of the 2018 NFL Draft by the Indianapolis Colts. Though he possessed the size and quickness of a conventional X receiver, he was never successful in the NFL, only hauling in nine receptions for 124 yards during his fifteen NFL games.
Before being selected out of the 2022 NFL Draft, Hall was an outstanding player at Ball State. After trying to make an impression on the Las Vegas Raiders, Hall was cut during the final cuts. In 2023, he made an impression on the USFL Houston Gamblers and continued to play for the UFL’s Roughnecks.
With such a significant quarterback turnover, the Vikings will use every resource at their disposal to distribute talented weapons over the field. Seeing what steps they take to ease McCarthy or Darnold’s burdens will be interesting.
