The Reasons Behind Deion Sanders’ 2025 Dallas Cowboys Coaching Position

After the club once again failed to make it to the playoffs, it was shocking to hear that Mike McCarthy would be retained, according to Jerry Jones. McCarthy guided the Dallas Cowboys to another 12-5 season and the NFC’s second seed before the team was completely destroyed at home by the Green Bay Packers in the Wild Card round.

Since McCarthy took over as head coach in 2020, the team has experienced plenty of success in the regular season. Right now, the Cowboys are the only NFL club that has won 12 or more games in each of the previous three campaigns. The Cowboys have routinely been outplayed in all three phases of McCarthy’s three postseason losses, despite having loaded rosters. The losses have all ended in brutal fashion.

Mike McCarthy’s Win-Loss Record in Dallas
Year Regular Season Playoffs
2020 6-10 0-0
2021 12-5 0-1
2022 12-5 1-1
2023 12-5 0-1

Deion Sanders is a very interesting option to consider if the team decides to move on from McCarthy at the end of the season. Sanders, who is regarded as one of college football’s top team motivators, will be able to infuse enthusiasm into a Cowboys club that has a propensity to disintegrate under pressure.

Known for being a formidable, lock-down corner, Prime Time went on to become one of the best defensive players in game history. His toughness and physicality are reflected in the energy and attitude he brings into the building. Dallas would become a physical football team under Sanders, one that Matt LaFleur and Kyle Shanahan would no longer be able to bully.

McCarthy has demonstrated his ability to design an offensive scheme that will light up the scoreboard. To help transform their franchise back into what it once was, the Cowboys could benefit from having a different voice within the organization.

Jones and Sanders Have Been Married for a Long Time.

Because of their enormous fan base, the Cowboys are known as “America’s Team” in the NFL. The Cowboys’ three consecutive Super Bowl victories in the 1990s helped the team establish a dynasty and greatly expanded its fan base and brand. Sanders was instrumental in shaping the Cowboys brand into what it is today.

Sanders was a player during a huge Dallas and San Francisco 49ers rivalry. During his one-year contract with the 49ers in 1994, “Prime Time” won a Super Bowl title and the league DPOY trophy. The next season, he made the decision to accept a seven-year, $35 million contract with Dallas, making him the most paid defensive player at the time.

His season layoff till week nine of 1995 due to a knee procedure that occurred during the winter. However, Sanders’ comeback gave the Cowboys a boost to win their third title in four years. After that, he played with Dallas for the following four seasons, winning an all-pro honor each time.

Sanders discussed his contact with Jones with Reach the People Media on YouTube a few months back.

He was truly a terrific player, and he was my Goliath. Incredible. I remained at a particular level to make sure I could handle him because of him.

By being candid about his respect for Jones, Sanders reveals to us the depth of their bond. Reuniting with Coach Prime in Dallas is possible because Jones enjoys thinking back on the glory days of his Cowboys teams from the 1990s.

The Cowboys Might Make a Shedeur Sanders Trade Up

Dallas Cowboys linked to NFL Draft QB prospect that would set social media on fire

For the entire offseason, the club has been plagued by questions about Dak Prescott’s and CeeDee Lamb’s contract status, but neither player appears to have made any headway in negotiations with the front office to extend their contracts. In the near future, Micah Parsons is also expected to receive a sizable salary.

If all three of them signed large contract extensions, Dallas’ roster would become even more stacked with elite players. This would make assembling a team strong enough to win a Super Bowl practically difficult.

Prescott is scheduled to play out the remainder of his current contract this season. In the event that the two parties are unable to come to an agreement, he will become an unrestricted free agency in 2025. Due to a contract holdout he and the team are currently experiencing, Lamb has not yet reported to training camp.

The Cowboys have not yet made any indication that they would be open to trading Lamb. Nonetheless, Dallas would receive enough money in exchange for Shedeur Sanders in the 2025 NFL Draft if the All-Pro wide receiver was traded.

Chiefs Acquire:

Hill Tyreek

First-Round Selection (2022)

Pick for the Second Round (2022)

Selection for the Fourth Round (2022)

Selection for the Fourth Round (2023)

2023’s Sixth Round Selection

Superstar wide receiver Tyreek Hill was acquired by the Kansas City Chiefs a few years ago in return for significant draft capital from the Miami Dolphins.

Considering that Lamb has established himself as one of the best three pass catchers in the game, it would be reasonable to believe that Dallas might obtain a return akin to this. This would provide the front desk enough resources to, if they so chose, trade up and put Shedeur in the driver’s seat in Dallas.

Sanders may be a good substitute for Prescott, who is anticipated to demand a contract that pays at least $60 million a year. In this case, Dallas would be able to avoid paying Lamb and Prescott exorbitant salaries while also starting the team off correctly with a franchise quarterback on a cheap contract.
