Though he was waived by the Browns in May due to a failed physical designation, Diesch has an intriguing athletic profile and could provide tackle depth in New England. Offensive tackle Tyrone Wheatley Jr. did not participate in the Patriots’ training camp practice on Thursday; it is possible that his absence was due to an injury. Diesch signed with the Miami Dolphins in 2022 after going undrafted out of Arizona State. He has since spent time with the Chicago Bears, Pittsburgh Steelers, and Cleveland Browns but has not appeared in an NFL game.

Diesch becomes a member of an offensive tackle group that also includes Zuri Henry, Vederian Lowe, rookie Caedan Wallace, Calvin Anderson, and Chukwuma Okorafor.

The exact opposite is occurring, despite 49ers management’s hopes that Williams and Aiyuk’s absences would go unnoticed and perhaps provide the team an advantage in discussions. Right now, Williams and Aiyuk are winning the negotiation tug-of-war and most likely the public’s attention. For the 49ers, they are indispensable.
This begs the question of why the 49ers are pushing these discussions to the limit, but that is a topic for another post. The 49ers have many good players in practice, but they are being overshadowed by those who aren’t playing.

Numerous organizations have reached out to acquire Aiyuk as a result of this. Are the Patriots really going to pull the trigger?
