According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, the Indiana Pacers plan to sign small forward Cole Swider to a one-year deal.
Swider, 25, is 6-foot-9 and played for the Miami Heat in 18 games the previous season, scoring 2.3 points a game on average and shooting 33.3% from outside the arc. After agreeing to a two-way contract in October, he played most of his time in the G League.
He later participated in summer league action for the Heat, where he performed admirably in Las Vegas last month.
Swider averaged 13.5 points and shot 49.1% from three-point range on almost seven attempts per game during the Summer League for the Heat, according to Charania’s report.
The Pacers signed second-round pick Tristen Newton to a two-way contract last week, making this their second signing in as many days.
In addition to Newton, the Pacers also selected former Akron forward Enrique Freeman (No. 50) and Spanish point guard Juan Nunez (No. 36) in the draft.
In 2022–23, Swider made seven appearances with the Los Angeles Lakers as a rookie. It is said that his agreement with Indiana is not certain.

The eventual champion Boston Celtics swept the Pacers during their march to the Eastern Conference finals.
In other Indiana news, in case you missed it, the Pacers added center James Wiseman to their roster last month in an effort to strengthen their frontcourt. In the 2020 NBA Draft, Wiseman was selected with the second overall pick and is said to have signed a two-year contract.
Wiseman shot 70.6% from the free throw line and 61.3% from the floor in 63 games during his last season with the Detroit Pistons. He averaged 7.1 points and 5.3 rebounds. His career averages in the NBA are 9.1 points and 5.6 rebounds.
