31 July (UPI) — The Chicago Bears have announced the signing of veteran wide receiver D.J. Moore to a four-year contract deal.

NFL Network, ESPN, and The Athletic were informed by sources that the agreement is for $110 million, of which $82.6 million is included. Moore’s current contract expires in 2029.

According to a press release, Bears general manager Ryan Poles expressed his excitement at being able to re-sign D.J. “We all know he’s an impact player and a difference-maker for our offense, but his leadership and professionalism make him a cornerstone of our franchise.”

Moore, 27, was traded from the Carolina Panthers to the Bears in the 2023 off-season. During 17 starts last season, he collected a career-high 96 catches for 1,364 yards and eight touchdowns. Over his first six seasons, Moore had 460 catches for 6,565 yards and 30 touchdowns overall.

As the No. 24 overall selection in the 2018 NFL Draft, Moore joined the team. Throughout his career, he has already recorded four seasons with more than 1,100 receiving yards.

The Bears’ annual Hall of Fame Game, which kicks off the preseason on Thursday in Canton, Ohio, at 8 p.m. EDT, will take place against the Houston Texans.

Caleb Williams, Bears Starters Will Not Play in Hall of Fame Game

On Thursday night, the NFL’s preseason opener will include the Bears.
Caleb Williams, the Chicago Bears’ first-round selection in the 2024 NFL Draft, is a significant concern heading into the preseason: will he live up to the hype?

When he entered the NFL Draft this year, the former USC quarterback was regarded as one of the top talents in recent years, and the Bears wasted no time in selecting him as the first pick.

The NFL preseason begins on Thursday night when the Bears play the Houston Texans in the Hall of Fame Game. However, fans will have to wait until later to witness Williams play.

This is due to the fact that, according to the NFL Network, Chicago head coach Matt Eberflus announced on Tuesday that none of his starting quarterbacks will be playing in Canton, Ohio.

Williams stated this week that he “would love to get out there and play,” but the decision is not shocking given that teams have typically rested their starters for this extra preseason game in the past.

As a result, backups and periphery players will compete for playing time at quarterback, with Austin Reed, Brett Rypien, and Tyson Bagent among others hoping to secure a spot on the team’s final 53-man roster for next month.

On Saturday, August 10, the Bears will play their second preseason game at the Buffalo Bills. Eberflus has not yet confirmed whether or not his starters will play in that game.
