Saints GM Speaks Out On Alvin Kamara’s Contract Situation

Alvin Kamara has been one of the New Orleans Saints’ best and most consistent players for years.

Even at this point in his career, when he may no longer be a workhorse, he still considerably improves their offense and should relieve a lot of load on Derek Carr.

He is apparently searching for an agreement that will allow him to retire as a member of the organization.

That’s why, despite leaving minicamp after failing to negotiate a new contract, he showed up to training camp to demonstrate good faith.

With that in mind, Saints general manager Mickey Loomis discussed how Kamara has made it plain that he wants to be a part of the club.

Speaking with SiriusXM NFL Radio, he stated that the interest is mutual, and he was enthusiastic about resolving the business side of this.

Kamara claimed that he attended training camp because ‘he wasn’t foolish,’ and that he wasn’t wanting to lose money; he was trying to make money.

The 29-year-old is under contract for the next few seasons, although he might be released at the end of the season.

That’s why Kamara is eager to make a deal now to avoid being released by the team next offseason, and if they truly want to keep him, it should be in their best interests to get something done.
