Before the Olympics in Paris, a lot of uncertainty surrounds Kevin Durant’s status for Team USA. The star player for the Phoenix Suns has been sidelined for all five of the national team’s tune-up games due to a persistent calf issue.

There has even been discussion lately about USA Basketball choosing to start another NBA player on the squad in lieu of Durant.

Because of all of this, NBA expert Brian Windhorst of ESPN has predicted that Durant won’t be available for Team USA when they play Serbia on Sunday in their gold medal campaign.

Team USA News: Kevin Durant’s Agent Refutes Briand Windhorst’s Report

When Rich Kleiman, Durant’s agent, learned of Windhorst’s remarks, he could not resist responding with what he claimed to be a bogus report.

To be fair, Windy did clarify in his report that he believes Durant won’t be able to play against Jokic and company. Kleiman shot back at the idea, stating he “knows” KD will be accessible.

Although Durant’s status for their opening game has not been officially confirmed by USA Basketball, Kleiman’s statement is as trustworthy as they come. Ultimately, it’s not as though Kleiman just happened to find this information.

That is a whole different story, though, when it comes to KD being 100%. In any case, it appears that supporters may anticipate seeing Durant in the starting lineup when the Americans begin their gold medal bid on Sunday.
