Over the past few seasons, Boston Bruins forward Trent Frederic has become an important member of the Original Six team. With 17 goals and 31 points in 79 games during the Bruins’ historic 2022–2023 regular season, he really started to shine.

But in 2023–2024, Frederic elevated his game even further, setting new records with 18 goals, 22 assists, and 40 points in 82 games. He was much more physical and posed a greater offensive threat than before; with 204 hits, he set a new career best. The tenacious forward’s previous season high of 119 hits was achieved in 2021–2022.

Even if Frederic reached new heights with his game in 2023–2024, one could say that he hasn’t reached his peak yet. Every season he plays, he continues to improve, so it wouldn’t be astonishing if the St. Louis native’s success continued into 2024–25.

This season, Frederic, 26, is getting ready for a contract year. Given that he has not received an extension from the Bruins, he ought to be even more motivated going into the season. Remember that successful campaigns are not uncommon for players in contract years.

Additionally, Frederic might be a contender for a larger role on the Bruins’ squad in the upcoming campaign. This offseason, the Bruins lost a significant portion of their wing depth, most notably with the departure of Danton Heinen and Jake DeBrusk. Maybe this would give Frederic some top-six chances and some power-play time.

Whatever the situation, Frederic undoubtedly has the ability to score 45 points and score 20 goals if he maintains his health and consistency. From here, let’s see if he can string together another successful career year.

Where 2021 Draft Prospects for the Boston Bruins Will Play This Season

As the NHL season approaches in two months, the Boston Bruins find themselves toward the bottom of prospect pools. Recent call-ups Mason Lohrei, Matt Poitras, and John Beecher are now most likely on the NHL roster, leaving the pool of young players a little limited yet again. These are the players’ destinations within the Boston Bruins organization selected in the 2021 NHL Draft, as the 2024–25 season draws closer.

These are the players’ destinations within the Boston Bruins organization selected in the 2021 NHL Draft, as the 2024–25 season draws closer.

Brett Harrison – Round Three After only five goals and nine assists in 47 games with the Providence last season, the 21-year-old is all but forgotten in the Bruins organization. But in two playoff games, the 2021 third-round draft pick scored three points and appeared to be adjusting to life in the professional league. If Harrison wants to play for the Boston Bruin in the future, this will be a huge season for him in Providence.

Fourth-round pick Philip Svedeback: The Providence College goalie is about to begin his junior campaign with the Friars. After this collegiate hockey season, the 6-foot-4, 210-pound goalie, who saw his numbers decline slightly the previous season (2.32 GAA,.900 save %), may be able to sign an entry-level deal with Boston.

Oskar Jellvik (fifth round): Jellvik is a top-line forward who had a breakout season with the Boston College Eagles the previous year. The 5-foot-11, 185-pound left wing saw a 25-point increase in scoring from his freshman season to 13 goals and 29 assists in 41 games last season. For the Bruins, all eyes will be on Jellvik to continue rising to the top prospect level.

Ryan Mast (sixth round): Last season, Mast played for both Providence and Maine in the ECHL. Mast, a 6-foot-5, 220-pound defenceman, may not have room with the AHL team this season, therefore the Maine Mariners should have him when the 2024–25 season begins.

Andre Gasseau (seventh round): Gasseau, who is entering his junior year, is a teammate of Jellvik’s with the Eagles. After two seasons with 29 points or more, the 21-year-old should be lining up alongside Jellvik and Ryan Leonard, the eighth-overall pick of the Washington Capitals in 2023. Dean Letourneau, a 2024 first-round pick by the Bruins, will play at Boston College as well.

Ty Gallagher (seventh round): Gallagher will play his fourth collegiate season at Colorado College after spending the previous three with the Boston University Terriers. During the 2022–2023 season, the defenseman recorded three goals and eighteen assists. However, in 37 games the previous season, he managed just 0–5–5.

The Boston Bruins will prioritize Lysell as he attempts to get into the NHL starting lineup, but there are still a few elite talents in the 2021 draft class.
