In the 2025 cycle, the Florida Gators’ collection of pass catchers is beginning to come together well. Vernell Brown III, a four-star wide receiver from Orlando (Fla.) Jones, is the most recent addition to the Gators commitment list. This cycle, he has been a key target for the Orange and Blue, not just as wide receiver but also as one of their top targets overall, regardless of position.

Now that Brown has committed, the Gators have teamed him with tight end Tae’Shaun Gelsey, a pass catcher, and Joshua Moore, a fellow wide receiver. At this stage of the cycle, Florida’s need is more or less addressed, although certain names will remain on the Gators roster moving forward. A few of the targets are examined by Swamp247 for tracking.

Naeshaun Montgomery, a three-star wide receiver from Miami (Fla.), In the center: Montgomery appears to be the most probable pick out of all the wide receiver targets still on the Gators’ roster moving forward. Although he will still identify approximately six institutions as contenders for his commitment, Florida and Penn State appear to be the two main contenders in this race. Florida has been the most persistent in her pursuit of him out of the two, and their bonds are strong.

Montgomery is scheduled to visit Florida on Saturday and may visit The Swamp again the following week. Montgomery has even witnessed head coach Billy Napier get more involved in the last month in an attempt to attract him even more, even though he has been participating in this recruiting process. He has stated that a decision would probably be made in the latter half of August. The arrow appears to be pointing in the direction of UF as the end of July approaches.

– Tampa, Florida; four-star wide receiver Dallas Wilson (commit to Oregon) Tampa Bay Tech: The Gators are said to be in a great position for Montgomery and have a good group of committed players at the position. UF would have three wide receivers in the class if they can sign Montgomery before to the start of the season. The personnel would then be able to hunt large wildlife with other available targets. Wilson is one of those names that the Gators staff would consider a high end target.

Billy Napier Hopes Florida Football’s Offseason Maneuvers Pay Off.

The Florida Gators’ 2023 campaign came to an unpleasant conclusion with a five-game losing skid. Billy Napier, the head coach, had to make difficult choices to reorganize the team and the internal organization of the program. Napier quickly split from defensive line coach Sean Spencer and cornerbacks coach Corey Raymond. After Austin Armstrong and Mike Peterson were the only returning defensive staff members for 2024 after Jay Bateman took a defensive coordinator post at Texas A&M, he had to fill another opening.

Billy Napier hoping offseason moves for Florida Football pay dividends

But Napier’s most important choice concerned the strength and conditioning regimen, which was previously run by Mark Hocke. Napier thought the program was doing well, but he thought there was room for improvement. He named Craig Fitzgerald the new leader and demoted Hocke to a behind-the-scenes position after giving it some thought. Fitzgerald’s stay was just temporary, though, as he left in less than a month to rejoin Bill O’Brien at Boston College. The sudden opening led Florida’s senior players to push for Tyler Miles to be given the position, something Napier finally approved of.

The advancement of Miles and the appointment of Jake Sankal to manage the nutrition program have had a big effect on the team’s growth, both mentally and physically. At the SEC Media Days in Dallas, Napier emphasized these advancements and expressed optimism that the Gators’ first game against Miami on August 31 will showcase these modifications.

“I believe it will turn out to be one of this team’s most significant narratives. That’s where I believe we changed our minds. Tyler Miles has excelled,” said Napier. “If you ask each one of the players that are here today, and really it would be the consensus amongst our team, the change in approach there, the whole strength and conditioning and sports science, nutrition, training room team, the discipline, the accountability.”

One of the alleged problems under Hocke was that Florida placed too much emphasis on conditioning-based workouts and not enough on weightlifting. According to every video in the “This Is…The Swamp” YouTube series, Miles is not in charge of this. According to Napier, the squad dropped the same amount of fat and gained 500 pounds of lean muscle between January and April.

Quarterback Graham Mertz, linebacker Shemar James, and running back Montrell Johnson Jr. joined Napier in Dallas, all of them in accord. They highlighted the gains in mental toughness, which is essential for surviving one of the hardest college football schedules, which has 11 Power Four opponents.

“Just guys strengthening their minds. That’s what I think we’re going to need to do in the fall to win games,” Johnson said. “Just to be mentally strong and overcome that tough schedule that people talk about.”
