Larson won his regular-season title in 2021. Elliott had an eight-point advantage over Larson going into the race, but Sunday’s pole-sitter had issues. In a mid-race collision, Elliott was collected by Joey Logano, putting the No. 9 vehicle into a spin and dropping him to the rear of the pack. Elliott would climb to tenth place in the final laps, but Larson, who would have been seventh had the race not been restarted, would push to the front and even challenge Tyler Reddick for the win.
