The New York Yankees have consistently been baseball’s top team this season.
They now have the best record in the MLB (51-26), with a half-game lead over the Baltimore Orioles, who have been biting at their heels all season. So, how can this team improve before the MLB Trade Deadline?
In the Bronx, this season has come as somewhat of a surprise. Everyone thought that the Yankees would be better, but not to this extent. They were the first team to reach 50 victories this season and have a plus-113 run differential, the second-best in the majors. That is due in large part to an excellent lineup that now includes not only Aaron Judge but also Juan Soto, whom the Yankees traded for during the winter.
Judge and Soto’s one-two punch has propelled the Yankees to the second-best offensive in baseball, with 111 home runs, 384 runs scored, and a.433 slugging percentage. But that was to be expected given Soto’s name recognition, even though he was coming off a subpar year with the San Diego Padres. New York’s pitching has been the most remarkable aspect of their roster.
