Just now: Ross Chastain intentionally got into Busch to spin him out because….

Kyle Busch’s chances of finishing in the top five were ruined by Ross Chastain’s spin during the last lap of the Toyota / Save Mart 350 on Sunday.

Following the incident, there was much discussion regarding whether Chastain deliberately bumped into Busch in an attempt to spin him out or whether it was a more unintentional incident. Dale Earnhardt Jr., a former NASCAR driver, seems to think the latter.

“With that, I disagree. In my opinion, that Was there anything Ross could have done to prevent that? Yes, Earnhardt Jr. stated on the podcast hosted by Dirty Mo Media. Could Ross have realized that there’s a moment when you can say, ‘All right, Kyle is going to equal me into this braking zone,’ as soon as they both step on the brake pedal? And it’s easy to determine that. And you can say, ‘OK, I’m not going to get the spot here.’

I don’t know if he had the option, but he didn’t intentionally run into the eight. You saw him swing the back, slip, step out, correct into the eight, and then say, “At that point, I’ve just got to go. Sorry this is happening to you, Kyle Busch, but I’ve got to take care of the rest of my lap.” Ross Chastain finished the race in fifth place, but Kyle Busch fell all the way to 12th place. That’s enough to make most drivers fairly angry, especially if the incident could have been prevented.
