Today saw the debut of a series of public service announcements (PSAs) announcing a comprehensive mental health partnership with 11 major sports leagues and organizations and the national “Love, Your Mind” campaign.

In the series “The Rituals We Share,” professional players discuss the “rituals,” or actions, they do to take care of their mental health both on and off the field. This encourages sports fans nationwide to give mental health a high priority and check out the free resources available on LoveYourMindToday.org. The goal of the Ad Council’s and Huntsman Mental Health Institute’s “Love, Your Mind” campaign is to promote a more understanding, accepting, and proactive society when it comes to mental health. At the end of Mental Health Awareness Month and beyond, that message is being reinforced.

There is a widespread mental health issue in our nation. The chief executive administrator of the Huntsman Mental Health Institute, Dr. William A. Smith, stated, “We can support one another by talking about the rituals we embrace to support our mental health.” “We’re honored to collaborate with many of today’s top athletes, who inspire so many sports fans, to share their stories and rituals around mental health in an effort to normalize discussing and caring for our mental health.”
