Vierling reminisced about his game-winning hit and said that it was even more memorable since he had practiced similar scenarios in their backyard with his brother. Detroit led 5-0 after three innings, 8-3 after five, and 9-5 after six. Carson Kelly and Spencer Torkelson also contributed with home runs. The Tigers achieved a new season record with 17 runs scored and matched their season-high of 17 hits.
