Quarterback Brock Purdy has a chance to sign a deal that will last a lifetime when he starts in 2024. The 49ers will be forced to pay Purdy among the biggest salaries in the NFL if he produces anywhere close to what he did in 2023.
The 49ers’ intentions aside, Purdy’s contract value will eventually be determined by the market. The cost of Purdy varies while other participants continue to receive payment. The Niners’ Sunday-assigned number is definitely different with the most recent quarterback contract.
Jared Goff received a $212 million contract deal from the Detroit Lions, with a guaranteed $170 million spread over four years. In October, Goff turns thirty. Purdy’s birthday isn’t until 2029. The Lions just finished a season that changed the course of the team. Goff was going to collect his money, no matter what. After losing a quarterback who helped guide them to the NFC Championship, Detroit isn’t going to let him go. Goff is going to start his ninth professional season. Success is the ultimate goal. Goff is talented enough to win with, therefore Detroit was ready to give that quarterback $42.5 million guaranteed annually for the next four years.
