So sad: women’s basketball head coach Geno Auriemma announced his departure today.

Rick Pitino’s revamped St. John’s team will get some star power from a one-time conference rival. A squad that lost many of its best players from the previous campaign will gain an experienced scorer in Kadary Richmond, an All-Big East selection with Seton Hall last season, who is moving to St. John’s.

Richmond told ESPN about St. John’s, “They were big on life after basketball and player development.” “I found it noteworthy that they maintained authenticity from the beginning.” They will enable me to demonstrate my skills and grow as a person and basketball player.” Deivon Smith, a point guard who transferred from Utah and averaged 13.3 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 7.1 assists per game the previous season, was revealed as St. John’s newest acquisition the day before. Pitino, who coached Terry Rozier of the Miami Heat while at Louisville, compared Smith to Rozier.
