(CBS Detroit) – The undefeated Michigan Wolverines had numerous players picked in the 2024 NFL Draft.
Nine players have been drafted, beginning with quarterback J.J. McCarthy.
Here’s a list of Wolverines who have been picked.
J.J. McCarthy
The Minnesota Vikings picked J.J. McCarthy with the tenth overall pick on Thursday.
Minnesota drafted the 21-year-old after a deal with the New York Jets moved the Vikings from 11th to 10th overall.
“His ball placement and timing need to improve to help mitigate an average operation time due to a windup release,” McCarthy’s NFL Draft report states. “McCarthy does not seek to play outside of the structure, but he is fairly consistent in making positive plays when they occur and increases his focus late in games and on third downs.” He is confident and appears to be able to take criticism and use it as competitive motivation.”
Kris Jenkins, a defensive tackle, was drafted 49th overall in the second round.
“Jenkins has a small build for his position, but he plays with good strength in one-on-one power plays. He can neutralise single blocks but struggles to close the distance against double teams, according to his draft profile. “His motor remains active. By the end of the play, he’s frequently chasing quarterbacks and tackling ball carriers.”
Jenkins’ father, a four-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle, was taken in the second round of the 2001 NFL draft by the Carolina Panthers.
The Washington Commanders selected Michigan cornerback Mike Sainristil in the second round as the 50th overall pick, making it a back-to-back selection.
Sainristil, who played five seasons at Michigan, received Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week in November 2023 after starting all 15 games and contributing to special teams.
He led the team with 44 tackles and set a single-season record in 2023 with 232 interception return yards.
