The Kansas City Chiefs entered the 2024 NFL Draft with two critical needs. After filling those positions in the first two rounds, general manager Brett Veach completed the roster with plenty of talent for the next season.
On Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, Kansas City selected a few of players for this season. Some of these first-year players will play crucial roles down the line as the organisation strives for a third consecutive championship. Not everyone will be included in the club’s 2024 goals, but everyone has a chance to make the long-term roster.
With the draft behind them, Arrowhead Report on SI.com is summarising the Chiefs’ 2024 draft picks below and keeping track of the undrafted free agent market. Prospects who were not selected are able to sign with NFL teams as early as Saturday, and UDFA news will be coming in.
Kansas City’s speed and explosiveness increase significantly with the addition of Worthy. As a rookie, the Texas product will contribute to both offence and special teams, giving Patrick Mahomes another option and providing Dave Toub with a standout returner. The four-spot swap up the board was deemed worthwhile, as the selection received excellent reviews.
This option earned far more praise than the Worthy one. Suamataia was a multi-year starter for BYU and has played on both sides of the offensive line. His combination of youth, athleticism, and upside makes him a viable long-term option at left tackle. At the absolute least, this is a talent who can challenge Wanya Morris in the spring and summer. Many would have been satisfied with Suamataia at the end of round one.
