Brittany Cohen’s second graders are learning Mavs maths. Every lesson, from using a ruler to reading the time, is about the Dallas Mavericks.
“A few of years ago, I had a student who was a great Golden State supporter. “And we just had a little rivalry between Luke and Steph,” Cohen explained. “It kind of just evolved.”
So much so that the entire classroom is adorned with Mavs-themed decor. From posters to schedules and hoops.
The majority of the Glenhope Elementary School campus is aware of Mrs. Cohen’s passion for the Mavs, which she has shared with her students.
So much so that Mavs player Dereck Lively discovered the class via social media. He was so impressed by what he saw that he purchased for the entire class’s tickets to a game.
The students were so grateful that they wanted to say thank you. So they decided to hold a lemonade stand at Colleyville’s Kimzey Park to collect funds for Lively’s preferred charity.
Well, the basketball player follows the instructor on social media, and when she tweeted about the lemonade sale, he hopped in his car and arrived with his mother.
