Once Charleston lost to Alabama in the NCAA Tournament’s first round earlier this month, Pat Kelsey’s name quickly became a legitimate contender for the head coaching job at the University of Louisville.

And Charleston’s top scorer quickly announced that he was moving to Louisville to follow his mentor after Kelsey was hired head coach last Thursday.

Reyne Smith, a senior guard who signed up for the transfer portal last week, made history on Saturday by announcing that he was transferring to the University of Louisville for his final season. Smith became the first commitment of the Kelsey era at Louisville.
