In October 2022, the 22-time Grand Slam champion and his spouse, Maria Francisca Perello, welcomed their first child, a son. Even with his impressive repertoire of shots and serve, Rafael is still learning something new about fatherhood every day.

“Everything surprises you because it’s all new,” he said to E! News on March 3 at a press conference in advance of The Netflix Slam. “For my spouse and me, everything is brand-new, especially when you have your first child. You therefore learn something new every day, and it’s never predictable.”
