UNBELIEVABLE: John Harbaugh is shocked. OL Kevin Zeitler terminated his contracts today….

Kevin Zeitler, a former offensive tackle with the Baltimore Ravens, is reportedly joining the Detroit Lions in the NFC North for a one-year deal.

Entering his 13th year of a well-established career as an offensive guard, Zeitler is 34 years old. He has been one of the better guards in the NFL during this time, and the New York Giants just sort of let him go in 2021, which is how the Ravens were able to acquire him.

For Baltimore, Zeitler immediately delivered, allowing only one sack and sixteen rushes in 17 games. He had comparable results in the next two seasons and, all things considered, was a blessing for Baltimore’s defensive unit.

However, it seems that both parties may have wanted something new—or different—after three seasons. Along the offensive line, the Ravens need to add younger, less expensive players. They parted ways just as much with Zeitler, Morgan Moses, and John Simpson. In order to cover for Andrew Vorhees, Ben Cleveland, Malaesala Aumavae-Laulu, and Daniel Faalele, they will now turn to their current crop of blocks.

As he approaches the end of his career, Zeitler probably wants to sign another big deal. Though the Lions are suddenly NFC contenders after almost making it to the Super Bowl the previous season, he is receiving more from them than simply a paycheck.
