Armando Bacot explain why he is leaving UNC Basketball Tar Heels..

Jerry Stackhouse, head coach of Vanderbilt, is in his sixth year of office, and The Tennessean’s Aria Gerson cautioned readers in early February that he had “the hottest of seats.” The former 18-year NBA player and mid-1990s basketball sensation from UNC needed to put together a late run like to the one from the previous year by winning a few big games in SEC play.

Stackhouse was named SEC Coach of the Year for that 2022–23 Vanderbilt team, which went 6–1 in February and concluded with an overall record of 22–15, which was amazing considering the club started 10–12 in the season.

This time around, though, his Commodores (8-20, 3-12 SEC) finished February with a 3-5 record, placing them just ahead of 0-15 Missouri in the conference rankings.

The postseason is long past. Therefore, the legendary Tar Heel will go 0-5 in terms of getting an NCAA Tournament bid, unless something miraculous happens during the SEC Tournament in a few weeks.

But as national hoops insider “Trilly Donovan” of Burner Ball observed in his “March Coaching Carousel Breakdown” on Friday, there’s still a chance that the Kinston, North Carolina, native and two-time NBA All-Star will remain in his position since Vanderbilt may find it too costly to let him go:
