Joe Burrow, the quarterback for the Cincinnati Bengals, set a timeline for his recovery from a ruptured wrist ligament that interrupted his 2023 season after 10 games.
“I anticipate being cleared for full contact and everything around the middle of May,” Burrow said to ESPN’s Ben Baby on Sunday. “Over the next month [to] month and a half, we’ll kind of decide all those things.”
After a game against the Ravens, Burrow had wrist surgery that ended the season. He told ESPN that he has incorporated the throwing of little medicine balls into his regimen and plans to start throwing a pigskin at the Bengals OTAs.
“I can lift basically normally now, which I’m excited about,” Burrow stated. “I’ll essentially be doing the same thing I’ve been doing for the past couple of years for the next two months. Just the additional 12 weeks of work behind us.”
The Bengals and star quarterback Burrow signed a long-term deal last offseason that extends through the 2029 campaign. Before Cincy found its footing in October, the team had a sluggish start to the season (1-3), which was partly due to the signal-caller’s calf ailment. Subsequently, the hand injury ended his season, and even though backup Jake Browning played well, the Bengals missed the postseason.
