The Villans may be forced to sell some of their stars when the transfer window reopens to stay within the Premier League’s spending rules and limits, and the Gunners remain interested in the Brazil international midfielder.

Arsenal had three bids knocked back for Luiz on the transfer deadline day in the summer of 2022, with Villa insisting he was not for sale despite having just 12 months left on his contract at the time.

The 25-year-old has since extended his contract while the Gunners have bolstered their options in midfield by landing Jorginho and Declan Rice.

However, they remain interested in recruiting his services with the future of the injury-prone Thomas Partey at the Emirates Stadium club in doubt.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta knows Luiz from their time together at Manchester City, and a reunion could finally take place in the summer.

The South American will cost top dollar without a doubt, and it remains to be seen whether the Gunners are willing to splash the cash in strengthening in such a position.

Landing another striker is top of their plans, and some of the ones they have been linked to are expected to command fees in the region of £80 million and above.

While sales are expected, Arsenal may not be able to afford Luiz if they end up spend big on a new number 9.
