Leon Bailey approves a “huge” Aston Villa deal when more information becomes available.

Leon Bailey has agreed to a new bumper contract at Aston Villa, sources have told Football Insider.

Well-placed sources have told Football Insider that the forward has agreed to a “huge” pay rise and an extension to his deal with the Birmingham giants.

Bailey is the latest first-team star to commit his future to the club after both Ollie Watkins and captain John McGinn penned new terms in recent months.

An announcement over the new contract is imminent.

The Jamacia international has emerged as a key player for Unai Emery’s squad this season after his underwhelming debut campaign in 2021-22.

This season, he has bagged 10 goals and nine assists across 31 appearances in all competitions – more goal contributions than in his first two campaigns at Villa Park combined.

The 26-year-old has played a significant role in helping Villa challenge for qualification to the Champions League this season, most notably by scoring the game-winning goal in their 1-0 win against Man City in December.

Bailey moved to Aston Villa in the summer of 2021 for a reported £30million from Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen.

Across 85 appearances in all competitions for the Villans, he has scored 16 goals and provided 15 assists.

Aston Villa sit fourth in the Premier League table after beating the bottom-of-the-league Blades on Saturday.

They will next face Chelsea in their fourth-round FA Cup replay at Villa Park on Wednesday night (7 February).
