SO SAD: MAVS star Luka Doncic announced his departure just now and….

Before playing the Cleveland Cavaliers on Tuesday night, the Mavericks had just lost badly to the Indiana Pacers.

Against the Pacers, a combination of poor coaching and dreadful transition defense proved to be the Mavericks’ downfall.

The Mavericks faced the 37-19 Cavaliers on Tuesday in an attempt to pull off a victory. The Mavs would lead by one point with seconds remaining in the game during a back-and-forth exchange, and Cavaliers guard Max Strus would win it with a half-court shot. The game-winning half-court shot, which beat the buzzer, ended up being the second-longest in NBA history.

It was evident throughout the game that the referees were biased against the Mavericks. The Mavericks wasted possessions and free throw opportunities as a result of missed calls after missed calls, which probably put this game out of reach.

With 45 points and 14 assists, Luka Doncic had an excellent game despite the heartbreaking defeat for the supporters. With his six made 3-pointers, Doncic consistently kept the Mavericks within striking distance. He even single-handedly overcame a 15-point hole in the second quarter for the Mavericks.

Doncic, though, lost his composure and was called for his 13th technical foul of the year. Doncic had been pleading for a tech throughout the first half; it’s unclear if his outburst, following a hard bucket, was directed at the referee or the Cavs bench.

Doncic needs to avoid picking up three more technical fouls before the season ends since he will miss one game following his sixteenth. There are 24 games remaining. With so much of the season left, Doncic has already been in technical foul trouble once before. Doncic was two technical fouls away from a suspension at this time last season. In the last two seasons, he accumulated 16 technical fouls; however, in both cases, his last technical foul was overturned, allowing him to continue playing.
