A highly-rated EDGE rusher plans an official visit with the Tennessee football team.
Damien Shanklin, a four-star prospect, recently revealed that he is set to embark on an official visit to Tennessee football from June 13-16, using X (formerly Twitter) to make the announcement. Originating from Indianapolis, the 6-foot-4, 230-pound edge rusher is a standout player at Warren Central High School, earning recognition as one of the premier talents in the Midwest.
In the 247sports composite rankings, Shanklin holds the 172nd position nationally and maintains a four-star status. Additionally, he is acknowledged as the 17th best edge rusher and stands as the top player in Indiana for the 2025 recruiting cycle.
This upcoming visit to Tennessee represents Shanklin’s second interaction with the team throughout his recruitment process, having previously undertaken an unofficial visit last November during the Georgia game.
While Notre Dame appears to be the frontrunner in Shanklin’s recruitment, supported by four visits to the Fighting Irish, including one in 2024, he has also explored opportunities with Indiana and Purdue (three visits each), Iowa (two visits), and other schools such as Michigan and Ohio State.
As of the latest update, Tennessee football’s 2025 recruiting class includes six commitments; however, none of them are defensive linemen. The current class is ranked 10th nationally and fifth in the SEC in the 247sports team rankings.
