Dallas — Luka Doncic’s chances of winning MVP were bleak prior to the trade deadline since the Dallas Mavericks were just not winning enough games to give him a genuine chance to win the trophy. But Doncic has forced his way back into the MVP discussion as the Mavs, who have acquired P.J. Washington and Daniel Gafford, are on a seven-game winning streak and appear to be a serious contender for the championship.

Tim Legler of ESPN, a former Maverick (1992–1994), has been a huge admirer of the Mavs’ trade deadline maneuvers. He ranked the Mavs fourth among NBA title contenders during an earlier this week feature on Get Up. Legler now claims that he believes Doncic is the current favorite to win in the most recent episode of The ALL NBA Podcast.

“I’m going to declare him my new fave right now. And it’s predicated on my assessment of Dallas’s performance for the remainder of the season,” Legler added. “Hey, look, there’s already precedent. It’s not often, but I seem to remember that Westbrook won the honor when he averaged a triple-double for Oklahoma City, about a six-seed.

Considering the struggles they have had as a family, Drysdale’s emotional support is invaluable.
