ESPN NEWS: A number of insiders reveal Alabama is about to ink a record-breaking contract with a young, dynamic quarterback in the NFL.
Nick Saban entered a room filled with recorders and cameras while wearing a blue suit, red tie, and his trademark “A” pin on his lapel. He pretended as though this was his first time doing it.
Shaking hands and getting set for his first media appearance with local reporters after his retirement last month, Saban remarked, “I know you guys don’t miss me.”
The now-former Alabama head coach talked on his last month in charge and the work his replacement, Kalen DeBoer, has done guiding the Crimson Tide after making a joke about whether he should stand in front of the podium or not. Speaking for around eight minutes, Saban was the guest of honor at the Legacy Award ceremony held in Birminghham’s Red Mountain Theatre.
“We’re excited to be here. It’s great to honor some great and legendary coaches who certainly have left their legacy in terms of their transformational leadership and how they’ve impacted people and helped them be more successful in life. Both of these gentlemen, Coach (Bobby) Bowden and Coach (Frank) Beamer, are guys that impacted me in terms of their professionalism and the way they went about representing their programs, how they influenced their players and people in the community that they serve.
