Wideout from the Patriots agrees to an extension prior to NFL free agency
Although Nelson Agholor’s season didn’t stand out on paper, the veteran wide receiver still managed to earn the Ravens’ desire to have him return.
On Sunday night, the Ravens declared that they and Agholor had reached a contract extension. Although the details of the agreement remained unclear, Agholor received $3.25 million for the one-year contract he signed prior to the 2023 campaign.
Agholor’s free agency was set to begin in March. According to ESPN’s Jamison Hensley, if he hadn’t inked a new contract by Monday at 4 p.m. ET, his existing one would have expired and he would have incurred $1.66 million in dead money.
Prior to this, Spotrac estimated that his market value would be $1.5 million for a one-year contract.
Agholor, 30, had 35 receptions for 381 yards and four touchdowns in 17 games by the end of the 2023 campaign. Agholor spent two seasons with the New England Patriots before signing a contract with Baltimore. In 31 games, he finished with 835 yards on 68 receptions and five touchdowns.
