Auburn dismantles Kentucky for second consecutive conference win
At Neville Arena on Thursday, the Auburn women’s basketball team defeated Kentucky 78-50 thanks to stifling defense.
“I believed that when our children came out, we did so to establish the tone and deliver the first blow. Johnnie Harris, head coach of Auburn, stated, “I thought we did that.” “On the defensive end, we played with extreme aggression. We applied pressure on the ball when in the passing lanes. I felt that we set the tone for the game by making it difficult for them to achieve what they desire.
Auburn’s defense is keeping conference opponents to an average of 11 points below their season scoring average. The Tigers defense was a formidable force, forcing 26 turnovers and holding the Wildcats well below their season average of 65.4 points per game.

Regarding the defensive effort, Harris remarked, “It’s what we do.” “We intend to carry out tonight’s actions. We anticipate exiting in the passing lane. We anticipate stealing. We anticipate getting assistance and being charged.
The second quarter was largely the same as the Tigers took advantage of 12 forced turnovers to increase their lead to 21 before the half.
In the third quarter, Kentucky went on a run of their own and cut the Tigers’ advantage to only 15, but the Tigers would ultimately win the game with a 28-point edge

Taylen Collins, a transfer forward, had a memorable evening as she produced a double-double with a season-high 19 points and 11 rebounds.
“I was only identifying the small openings that the defense was providing for me.” My guys were really good at locating me. It kind of made room for me to kind of get the pickup points, especially when they were attacking, Collins remarked.
