Before the 2024 NFL Draft, Tennessee running back Jaylen Wright is gaining a lot of fans. The 20-year-old North Carolina native didn’t have much tread left on his tires after a successful three-year career in the SEC. That kind of running back profile on day two appeals to a lot of NFL executives, and it appears Wright may wind up there.
Draft Countdowns Following the season, Shane Hallam ranked Wright among the best 5 running backs on his roster. He reiterated that belief, pointing to Wright’s superior quickness and increased output throughout the passing game. During his time at the University of Tennessee, Wright recorded eight career 100-yard games and was known for his explosive plays.
Mel Kiper Jr., an ESPN draft expert, likewise had nothing but praise for Wright earlier this week. Kiper said, “I like everything about him.” “You have to be able to run through contact in the NFL, essentially making the initial defender miss, and if you find yourself off-balance, you need to be able to maintain the flow of the play by getting an extra yard or two, which he demonstrated he could provide.
