Marc Stein, the NBA insider, has recently stated, “I know of at least two teams on the NBA map that believe LeBron James would consider signing with them at far less than $51.4 million if Bronny James is on the roster. There might be more.”
The four-time NBA champion, LeBron James, would enter the unrestricted free agent market if he doesn’t take up his player option of 2024-25. This year, Bronny is eligible to declare for the NBA Draft and the superstar of the league could make his way to play with his son.
The icon joined the Los Angeles Lakers in 2018 after being with the Cleveland Cavaliers from 2014 to 2018. According to Hoops Wire via The Athletic’s Sam Amick, the Lakers want James to take his retirement with the squad.
However, to do that, the Lakers squad might have to take on his son on the club as well. Amick shares, “Team sources say the Lakers would strongly prefer that James retire in their jersey someday, meaning he holds all the cards until his contract situation gets figured out. The Lakers’ top decision-makers have no illusions about that much.”
LeBron has made his wishes clear: that he would want to play in the league with Bronny. According to BR via ESPN, he shared in January last year, “I need to be on the floor with my boy, I got to be on the floor with Bronny. Either in the same uniform or a matchup against him,” James continued. “I don”t mean like [guarding one another all game]—because he”s a point guard and I”m a, at this point now I”m playing center or whatever the team needs from me. But I would love to do the whole Ken Griffey Sr. and Jr. thing. That would be ideal for sure.”
LeBron has a current average of 24.8 points, 7.8 assists, and 7.3 rebounds and even in his 21st season, he is pushing himself with determination and grit. His shooting percentage from the field is 51.9% and it is 73.7% from the free throw line.
