Lions Not Projected to Receive 2024 Compensatory Draft Pick

List of NFL teams not expected to receive additional picks.

The Detroit Lions are not projected to receive any compensatory picks in the upcoming 2024 NFL Draft, according to overthecap.com.

Back in 2022, general manager Brad Holmes and the front office were awarded three additional compensatory picks.

Compensatory picks are awarded to NFL teams based on the certain amount of talent let go in free agency compared with their number of additions.

Last offseason, Detroit lost four qualifying free agents in D.J. Chark, Jamaal Williams, Mike Hughes and Evan Brown. The departure of veteran Chris Board did not factor into the equation.

Detroit added five qualifying free agents, including David Montgomery, Emmanuel Moseley, Marvin Jones, Cam Sutton and Ceedy Duce.

There have been growing concerns from other NFL owners that the San Francisco 49ers are receiving so many additional draft picks, based on new NFL rules that benefit teams that serve as a pipeline for minority coaches and executives.

According to ESPN, “Owners have complained to the league office about the sheer number of compensatory picks the 49ers have received for serving as a pipeline for coaches and executives of color.”
