JUST NOW: D’Angelo Russell might return to his previous team Due to,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,?
In 2017, D’Angelo Russell may reappear once more.
This week, ESPN’s Dave McMenamin revealed that veteran guard Russell of the Los Angeles Lakers was recently brought up in trade discussions with the Brooklyn Nets, one of his previous teams. The Toronto Raptors and Atlanta Hawks are two more teams that McMenamin mentions as having engaged in trade discussions for Russell
Given that he is now on a cheap new two-year, $36 million contract (and that he opted to waive his implied no-trade provision), the 27-year-old Russell is a likely trade target. The Lakers, who selected Russell in the 2015 NBA Draft, had already dealt him to the Nets once: in 2017, they acquired Brook Lopez and Kyle Kuzma’s draft rights in exchange for Timofey Mozgov. Russell excelled throughout his two seasons in Brooklyn, scoring about 20 points a night on average and earning a spot on the All-Star squad for the first time in his career in 2019. However, in the summer of 2019, Russell would ultimately be traded by the Nets to the Golden State Warriors as a part of a sign-and-trade deal forMcMenamin
