Blackburn Rovers set to take action on senior player amid Ipswich Town transfer interest

Ipswich Town’s interest in a senior player transfer will prompt Blackburn Rovers to move on.

have not triumphed in the Championship since defeating Bristol City 2-1 on December 12 and may be feeling anxious after losing 2-1 at home to a QPR team that is in danger of relegation.

The fact that Jon Dahl Tomasson’s team lost to Rovers on Saturday coincided with Huddersfield Town’s convincing victory over Sheffield Wednesday is doubly unfortunate for them, as they are now only five points above the bottom three.

Gallagher was the subject of transfer rumors during the transfer window, which ended on Thursday night. The forward was reportedly interested in moving to Ipswich Town.

But when the high-flying Tractor Boys showed interest in Gallagher, Rovers are about to exercise the one-year extension option in his contract.

In an update on the striker’s contract status on Patreon, Alan Nixon stated that, should Rovers fail to make a move for the player this summer, Gallagher will remain on the team for another season.

When his current contract expires at the conclusion of the season, Nixon stated that the Venky family, the club’s owners, do not want to see their guy walk away for free.

Meanwhile, the Tractor Boys chose to sign Wales after failing to land their goal.

Retaining the services of Gallagher for another season would be a good bit of business for Tomasson’s side, as the striker can be a real goal threat in the Championship. He has started just four games in the second tier this season, but has managed to score two goals in that time, while last season the 28-year-old managed to score eight goals and create two assists in just 27 Championship starts. Szmodics has proven his prolific ability this season, but if Gallagher remains fit, his presence could further complement the midfielder’s attacking exploits. Gallagher’s new-found form has come at a welcome time for the Ewood Park outfit, who will need his goals to help steer them away from trouble following a woeful run of eight
