BRAKING NEWS: Formal Giants top player is back and….
It could have no meaning at all or have great significance. Enraged by yet another Buffalo early postseason departure, fans in the seats at Highmark Stadium fired back at Gabriel Davis, who was hurt and unable to play in the Bills’ defeat to the Chiefs.
Former Davis teammate Cole Beasley believes the latter. He sent Bills Mafia a brief message on social media, saying, “Fans don’t understand what they are about to lose.”
Joe Schoen, general manager of the Giants, should call Davis shortly after he enters free agency, if Beasley is correct. He is essential to this tam.
They should go get him if they have the chance.
The Giants aren’t off to the best start this offseason, but if there’s one good thing about the apparently never-ending stream of sourced content that’s leaking out of 1925 Giants Drive and challenging the culture and workplace that Brian Daboll has fostered, it’s that the roster’s flaws haven’t been examined.
In 2022, the Giants were one of the league’s happy stories. Many were taken aback when they defeated the Vikings in the opening round of the playoffs. John Mara told the New York Post following the game, “We’re back,” therefore it didn’t matter that the Eagles destroyed them in the divisional round.

The season of 2024 was a tremendous, shocking, blue awakening. Give Daboll credit: While his staff fractured, he kept the locker room together. The Giants battled to the very end, but far too frequently they were defeated because to the underlying problems that remained after Dave Gettleman’s reign of terror. Season six-eleven had concluded. Even scarier: they started it with 2–8.
It isn’t until you have a lot of problems that you end up with such a bad record. Among them: A shortage of playmakers. With the addition of tight end Darren Waller and the draft of Jalin Hyatt, Schoen’s team was enhanced from the previous season. They still require more. Davis would be more.
For Davis, this was a little bit of a poor year. 45 catches, 746 yards, and seven touchdowns wasn’t awful; it just wasn’t the huge performance that many had anticipated. In 2022, he performed better, catching 48 catches for 836 yards and seven touchdowns. Part of this was probably due to the fact that tight end Dalton Kincaid (73 targets) was developing after being selected in the first round, quarterback Josh Allen’s continued preference for Stefon Diggs (team-high 107 targets), and Buffalo’s general slow start to the season, which finally resulted in the firing of offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey.
Even so, there aren’t many people like Davis. At the age of 24, he is 6-2 and 210 and is just starting to reach his peak in his career. Throughout his NFL career, he has averaged over 15.7 yards per reception, including a career-high 17.4 in 2022.
Even after his outburst with Chiefs fans, there’s no doubt the Bills would prefer to retain Davis around. In the fourth round, they selected him. They helped him grow. With Allen at the center, the offense will be as lethal as any in the NFL, and he is a weapon on it. The Bills’ ability to accomplish that precisely is the problem.
Although the Bills’ window for a championship is still open, getting to a Super Bowl will get harder going ahead. They made a big commitment to try to get a ring in the next two years. There are now financial consequences for failing. According to OverTheCap.com, the Bills are expected to make $43.7 million more than the anticipated $242 million league salary cap. The main problem is that there aren’t many clear ways to position the Bills, who haven’t advanced to the AFC Championship game since 2020, to be able to acquire respectable players.
