Breaking news: 5 star-set to join Eagles.
In the most recent installment of the New Heights podcast, which he and his brother Travis co-host, Jason detailed how Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni gave him permission to speak to the squad on Monday night about his future.
After the game, according to the All-Pro center, there was “too much emotion in the moment” for him to fully process the choice to retire.
“It’s just something that I think you know when it’s time to officially announce you know what’s happening in the future it’ll be done in a way you know that’s definitive and pays respect to a lot of people that have meant a lot to me,” Jason said.
Jason gave his address in response to reports that, following the Eagles’ 9-32 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, he had informed his teammates that he was retiring.
The screen went black, revealing that the Kelce brothers had stopped recording since Travis was bothering Jason so much and they needed to move on the next day.
“Travis hit me in the feels a little bit, so we decided to postpone the show,” Jason explained.
“We began recording it on Monday night, and since I needed to calm down, we’re returning on Tuesday to finish everything.
“If there’s anybody who knows how to get under my skin it’s Travis Kelce.”
In the old video, Travis claimed that his brother was covering up rather than taking responsibility for the team’s poor performance.
“Is that the excuse train coming into the Eagles locker room right now?” With a train noise, Travis stated.
Then he attempted to shift the focus to another conflict the Eagles were facing, but Jason said enough was enough.
Jason said, “I might need a little second,” removed his headphones, and walked out.
“What just happened here?” stated Travis.
